Huntington's Disease Memorial Quilt

From the Fall 2001 issue of Hopes & Dreams, newsletter of the Illinois Chapter, Huntington's Disease Society of America.

Members of the Hunt-Dis internet support group have initiated a national Huntington's Disease Memorial Quilt project. This is a major undertaking. The goal was to have the first showing of the quilt at the 2001 HDSA Convention in San Diego June 29-July 1 and that goal was met. Another large section of the quilt is continuing to be compiled.   Anyone wishing to create a block is welcome to submit one or more finished blocks as he/she wishes. These are 12" finished squares, but the raw quilt block should be 12 1/2 " x 12 1/2 " to allow for seams when assembling.

The quilt is to honor our loved ones, friends and family members living or deceased and will be used to promote HD awareness around the country at local conferences and conventions and other gatherings as requested by HDSA, its chapters or Centers of Excellence.

If you have any questions or would like further information on this quilt, please contact Annette Williams, 1420 NW Clifford, Pullman WA 99163 at (502) 335-1856. If you have a computer and internet, you can find all of the instructions on the Arizona HDSA Chapter web site at http://www.hdsa-az.org/, for instructions.
