President's Message

From the Autumn 2004 issue of Hopes & Dreams, newsletter of the Illinois Chapter, Huntington's Disease Society of America.

The start of our fiscal year, October 1, 2004, brings with it the expectation of a Center of Excellence for our HD patients and their families as well as a full schedule of events to raise funds for research, family services and education.

Our Officers and Board of Directors for the coming year are as follows:

Anyone interested in a Board position or Committee position, please contact any officers or board member – we can certainly use your help.

We have an aggressive Business Plan for the coming year that consists of the following events:

Annual Amaryllis Sale – October 2004
Jay & Beverly Peddy Raffle – December 2004 thru March 2005
Illinois State Convention – March 5, 2005
Dinner, Dance & Silent Auction – April 2005
(Proceeds to benefit our new proposed Center of Excellence)
Walk for HD – May 2005
BMW Raffle – April and May 2005
Golf Outing – August 7, 2005
Day at the Races – September 2005

Again, anyone interested in helping with any of these events, please contact any board member.

A big thank you to last year’s officers and board members, as well as Maryann Moynihan, our Newsletter Chairperson, for a job well done.

We have a big challenge ahead of us this year. Please support us in our efforts, for we will all benefit.
