A Message from our Prez

From the Fall 1999 issue of Hopes & Dreams, newsletter of the Illinois Chapter, Huntington's Disease Society of America.

Dear Friends in the struggle against HD,

Exciting things are happening with your Illinois Chapter! This coming fiscal year, your Illinois Board members have voted to hold a mini-convention! Many have mentioned how much they would love to attend the National Convention but due to financial or time constraints, they have not been able to go to convention. So your board has decided to bring the convention home to you!

What we need is YOUR input as to what you would like to hear, see, and learn about Huntington's Disease. The Illinois Convention co-chairpersons are hard at work lining up an exciting list of speakers but in order for this convention to be the great success that we all want, we need your help.

Additional flyers with complete convention information will be sent out in the next couple of months. But in the mean time, we ask for your input and help as a volunteer. If you can give any of your time to the convention, it will be just that much more successful. Complete the form on page 3 with any suggestions or offers of assistance and send it via mail or fax to Chairperson Beth Senn-Brouwer.

The exciting extra of the Illinois Convention is that it will act as a "dry run" for hosting the National Convention here in Chicago, possibly within the next two or three years. Before we can even think about doing that, we need to know who wants to be part of the team. Hosting a National Convention takes the teamwork of everyone in the chapter. Won't you please give serious thought about becoming a convention volunteer?
