Celebrations of Hope

From the Summer 2005 issue of Hopes & Dreams, newsletter of the Illinois Chapter, Huntington's Disease Society of America.

The formal dedication ceremony of our Center of Excellence at Rush University Medical Center will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 11, 2005 in the Faculty/Executive Club, Room 500 in the Professional Building. All are encouraged to come. We hope you will make plans to participate in the ceremony with us.

Our Celebration of Hope Dinner and Silent Auction is scheduled for
Thursday, September 8, 2005 at the Swissotel, 323 E. Wacker Drive, Chicago. We will be honoring a group of outstanding individuals who have achieved excellence in their respective fields. The purpose of this inaugural dinner is to raise much needed funds for our Center of Excellence. In the very near future, a dedicated event website will be available to give you additional details on this event. The URL for the website will be www.illinoiscelebrationofhope.com.

On behalf of the Illinois Board, a big thank you to Dave and Susie Hodgson and their committee for putting together a very successful first-time event, "Walk For The Cure". The month of May is designated HD Awareness Month, and the success of the event both financially and in creating community awareness is a testament to all of their efforts.

Finally, as I complete my sixth and final term as President of the Illinois Board, I want to thank each and every Board member, past and present, for your help and support. It has been an honor and privilege to work with all of you.

To the HD community, remember our goal is Care to Cure - Don't Give Up The Fight!

Barry Kahn, President - Illinois Chapter
