1st Annual TEAM HOPE Walk for a Cure was a HUGE SUCCESS!!

From the Summer 2005 issue of Hopes & Dreams, newsletter of the Illinois Chapter, Huntington's Disease Society of America.

The Illinois Chapter of HDSA sponsored its first annual Team Hope Walk for a Cure on May 22, 2005 at Danada Forest Preserve in Wheaton, Illinois. Over 200 individuals participated and helped to raise almost $20,000 before expenses. We had great walking weather during the biggest part of the Walk with the clouds blocking out the sun. As if on key, the sun broke through shortly after the majority of walkers had finished. Walkers came from as far away as the Bloomington and Peoria area to help make the day a huge success.

The Team Hope committee would like to thank all of our sponsors including our two event sponsors, The Wild Family and Infinte Logistics as well as trail sponsors Kips Lawn Mower Sales and Service and Belgio’s Catering.

The Villanova Family turned in the highest individual pledge and Jenny Palmer turned in the highest dollar amount of pledges.

Please keep the same weekend open next year for our 2nd annual Team Hope Walk for a Cure.

WOW to the WALKERS!
Thanks from the Upper Midwest Region

Much thanks to all the organizers and participants of the first annual Illinois Walk for HD. The results were so impressive and could only have been accomplished with a great deal of dedication and hard work. Hats off to all of you for your generosity that makes such a difference in the lives of HD patients and families!
